Comic 1

Still trying to figure out how “chapters” (i.e., storylines) work in the webcomic CMS.  I am going to need a lot of practice inking on the wacom (among everything else) – I lost a lot (I think) going from the scanned in piece to inking it on the computer.  The color is a whole ‘nother thing — probably will have to do no color or a single color, otherwise I’ll have to learn how to do colors properly too and who knows how long that would take.  Below is the drawing pretty much as scanned in (the title is the FireFight font)

New Webcomic: Planet Z!

I worked on plotting another take on a science fiction tale called Planet Z! today (between mangling installing a wireless access point, driving to the closed recycling center – duh oh! — and… hey where did the day go?!?).  I’m attaching the first (I think) drawing I did for this idea earlier in the decade.  I still like the general look of this although I realize I have a lot of improvements to make on EVERYTHING.

After plotting today, I spent time sketching the little guys today (they are one of several “native species” to Planet Z) and trying to fill in some more details on how they work visually.  I plan on sketching all of the characters in Chapter one of my plot MANY MANY times before moving on to sketching out thumbnails for it.

What can I say?  One thing writing and reading a LOT of comics over the last eight years has done is up my humility quotient.  I know I am going to need to work hard to get better at this.

Welcome to Burnt Dog Radio; version 7 or 8 or so…

I decided to try out Wordcomic 3.0 + WordPress.  Pretty easy to set up (okay extremely easy!) and it does a lot of things well out of the box.  I’m pretty used to Drupal these days so I’ll be curious as to see if WordPress can do everything Drupal does and vice versa.
